HTC TATTOO

Hello to all of you,

After about one month of obsessive searches on the internet about PDA operating systems, display types and resolutions, pro’s and con’s I got my eyes on the HTC DIAMOND2 device which I could have bought for about 310 EUROS. What I liked the most about this device was the display’s resolution, and the HTC build quality.

Considering my requirements for a PDA a minimum of 3.2′ display, wlan, gps and many more, I ignored other devices with a display of 2.8′.

Hmmmm, that wasn’t very wise from my side….On 2.8′ I cannot look at movies properly, I also cannot see web pages in a reasonable detail I thought…This is a general missconception of many potential Smartphone buyers….But then I stopped on my race for high end specs like resolutions, CPU speeds, etc.etc. etc…and I went back to the definition of a SMARTPHONE…It’s just a PHONE that’s supposed to be SMART also, right ?

After clearing my “filters” on the search for a new SMARTPHONE I made up my mind on the small and cute HTC TATTOO, which is based on the Android 1.6 OS, and has all the stuff that the bigger brothet HERO has, besides the large screen, and a better resolution.

You can find the “unboxing ritual” , and I can only say that I am VERY HAPPY with this choice I made, a choice that will be easy in my shirt pocket, and that it was also easy on my back pocket with only about 180 EURO. More impressions and a short review will follow after I will get the time to test the TATTOO the hard way.

With a big smile on my face, and a brand new HTC TATTOO on my desk awaiting to be “touched”,

I wish you all a good and “touchy” day

How to play Gameboy games on your android phone?

I think that all of us where fascinated of the Gameboy games when they appeared, but not all of us actually

bought the Gameboy consoles. Now it’s the time to get back to your childhood games using your grown-up

person toy, your PDA.

First thing’s first, you need to download from the application market the software called: Gameboid.

Then you have to create on your card drive two folders, which for example I named games-where I copy

all my rom game archives, and the other one is called gameboid, where I put the bin file.

For this I used another application called ES file explorer, available also on the Android market,

but you can use any filemanager or you can just connect the PDA to your PC, via USB cable,

and manually create these two folders.

Ok, after you have done all of these, you open the gameboid application, which will ask for a bin file

(gba_bios.bin) just for the first time you open the application, ones you load it it will not ask for it again.

The idea is that the emulator needs the bios(bin) file which you just download from the internet using any

search engine (I use the file listed in this link http://happycorner.webs.com/gba_bios.bin).

Now you’really set. Use any search engine to search for “gameboy rom” games,which you must copy in the games folder exactly how it is (archived)

Before you actually start playing, don’t forget to enter the emulator’s settings MENU which allows (at least on my HTC TATTOO) to make some really usefull settings, including landscape mode, controls settings,using the accelerometer for directions, and many more. The pictures I attached below are actual printscreens taken using the emulator menu button from Mario Kart, Zelda and Castlevania.

Enjoy and hope this helped you

WordPress on Android – short review

Hello All,

The idea behind this blog is that I will try to review some of the most downloaded

apps that I use, and I will include here general apps, specific oriented apps and of course

games, all on the HTC Tattoo 1.6 platform.

I would like to start with this app(WordPress) since I like it too much J

What can I say: you simply download it from the market, add your WordPress

login info, and you’re ready to go…Simple as that J

On top of it you have four tabs:

Comments – this one does really what it says;

Posts – you can find your posts here and you can add new posts;

Pages – here you can add info about yourself on the blog, or about your site;

Stats – as it says in the title, a usefull tool that shows the views, clicks or referrers;

It’s really nice because you can use filters for these but also for the timeline.

Hope you enjoyed my short review, and hope to meet you on another post J

Meanwhile take care and be happy J

Hello world!

Hello All,

Since I’m an Android platform user myself, I think that this is a nice idea of  gathering ideas, reviews and usefull info.

That’s because we’re a big family that likes open software, adding widgets an configuring our devices the WAY WE LIKE 🙂
